From a block-club-organized garden tour it's grown to the largest garden tour in the country. It now draws tens of thousands of visitors from all over the U.S. and Canada. Garden Walk Buffalo works nearly year round to produce this celebration of urban gardening and living. It's looking for volunteers to help maintain the quality of the event—held for free—the last full weekend of each July.
It has committees that deal with marketing, PR & communications, finance, merchandise, party planning (have to treat the gardeners right!), Garden Walk Buffalo Beautification Grants, headquarters coordination, sponsorships and more. If you've got an expertise or interest in any of these areas, they'd love to have your help. Even if you're not able to help with a committee, they're always looking for volunteers to distribute posters, work with visitors at headquarters during the event, and support marketing by manning booths at events like Plantasia and the Elmwood Festival of the Arts.
Garden Walk Buffalo helps to rejuvenate neighborhoods, helps make our neighborhoods more walkable, has given out more than $30,000 in Beautification Grants, and has an incredible impact on Buffalo's image outside the region. If you're interested, please email
