altNearly 1,000 gardens on 17 garden tours. Pretty much any weekend you visit Buffalo in the summer there's a garden tour to visit!

From the start of the season with the Lewiston GardenFest on June 26, to the Black Rock Riverside Tour of Gardens on August 6 there are tours most every weekend, including Garden Walk Buffalo - the largest garden tour in America.

But don't miss the other great tours - there are night tours, market places, historic homes, plant sales, and more. Nearly all walks and tours are free.

Lewiston GardenFest

Featuring booths from area nurseries, landscapers, garden vendors, and outdoor suppliers, along with demonstrations by garden professionals. Soil samples will be analyzed and questions answered by Master Gardeners and garden society experts. Enter their container garden contest and win a prize.

Parkside Garden & Architecture Tour

Sunday, June 25, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., rain or shine
Garden Central: Hillside Children’s Center, 70 Jewett Parkway, corner of Jewett Parkway and Crescent Avenue

A garden map with a directory is available for $5. The tour is self-guided.

Tour the local gardens nestled between the beautiful homes of the Parkside neighborhood, the suburb designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in 1870. More than 50 carefully tended gardens, which range from formal to quirky, edible to elaborate, and everything in between, will be open to visitors. There will be free admission to the Darwin Martin House conservatory and gardens only, along with garden-related talks and special activities throughout the day by Master

Gardeners and the DM Horticulturalist Nell Gardner. All proceeds fund community programming, children’s and senior services by the Parkside Community Association, a not-for-profit community service organization. Guided walking tours highlighting Parkside’s diverse architecture, history, and folklore will begin at Garden Central. (There is a fee for these tours.)

Frederick Law Olmsted designed Cazenovia Park and South Park, which are connected by Red Jacket and McKinley Parkways. Other area features include: McKinley and McClellan circles (2013 LEAF A Legacy project), Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens, and Our Lady of Victory Basilica. Farmers Market at Cazenovia Park in front of the Casino from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m, June to September. More than 60 intriguing gardens vary from beautiful pool-side settings to decks with blooms, from ponds and waterfalls to veggie plots, train gardens, and fairy gardens. Follow the Irish Heritage Trail. Notice statues carved from trees felled by the legendary October 2006 snowstorm, including: Chauncey Olcott, writer of Irish ballads; Red Jacket; Mother Catherine McAuley, the Sisters of Mercy founder; and the Irish Immigrant (located at the entrance to Brookdale Park and landscaped by South Buffalo Alive).
